As an over-50 athlete myself (springboard diving, martial arts, triathlon, hill running, obstacle courses, racquetball, boxing) who has strength trained for sport since 1978, I understand your deep commitment to your performance capabilities. I am devoted to providing broad discipline-applicable expertise and share with you a passion for getting the most out of your fitness and nutrition decisions.

Dan Taylor, MS, CSCS
50+ Fitness and Nutrition Expert
Are you a mature athlete or fitness-minded person who is tired of shirtless, self-professed Instagram "fitness gurus" with their algorithm-conscious vanity posts? Do you cringe at their broad declarations, lacking any substantive evidence to support their claims or any ability to consider whether you’re a runner, a bodybuilder, or a martial artist before barking out the "bro-science" they tell you to follow?
My master’s degree (exercise physiology and sports nutrition) research area of interest focused on over-50 athletes. My capstone CSCS (Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist) certification, combined with daily field experience training older athletes since 1998 provides the foundation for me to help this unique profile achieve their optimal conditioning. This includes teaching older athletes how to maximize productive strength while minimizing excess body fat, reduce injury risk caused by mobility limitations, overtraining, and redundancies, and eat in a way that stabilizes blood sugar while maximizing muscle synthesis and retention.
My guidance prioritizes realistic, time-efficient, practical, and sustainable principles to help you achieve and maintain peak conditioning in your 50s and well beyond. My ongoing sources of continuing education include the work of the ISSN (premier sports nutrition research organization), the NSCA (premier athletic strength and conditioning authority), and the work of Drs. Brad Schoenfeld, Asker Jeukendrup, Bill Campbell, Mike Israetel, Layne Norton, and Andy Galpin, among other notable resources.

I found 50+ Hybrid Athlete to be very helpful, both personally and professionally. The training and performance eating curriculum was in-depth, yet easily understood. Explaining the “why” behind the “what” and “how,”Dan’s teaching style and expertise provide a very positive learning experience well-suited for the adult learner.
